Tonight couldn’t have been any better. We celebrated the release of the 2nd edition of White at Barnes and Noble Ala Moana with a bang... The energy was contagious in the store tonight. We kicked off the evening with over 50 White vendors and a ton of brides mixing and mingling over hot coffee and homemade cookies. We also had an exciting contest for the brides that left them all hoping for the chance to win a Real Life Wedding feature… but the best part of the night was that we turned our Book Release into a Book Fair, donating a cool 20% of all sales made to Hawaii Literacy’s Bookmobile!
What a lot of people don’t realize is how intimate and closely knit the wedding industry is. If you look at the statistics, over 90% of the businesses are SMALL businesses – owned and operated by a local person, just like you and me. We’re all trying to make a difference by following our passions. And with such an amazing team of individuals, it was neat to see everyone in White pull together for a great cause.
With 20% being donated to the Bookmobile by White and the wedding community, I was proud to see our vendors giving back so generously… I saw Geralyn Camarillo from Hokuli’i Images carrying “Pidgeon to Da Max” books to give to her “haole” friends, Brian Shimamura from The Private Gym buying his step daughter a stack of books for summer reading, Katrina Nazareth from The Cake Gallery and Cari Nakanishi from Miemiko Atelier picking up the latest greatest Grace Ormonde mag and other chic publications. Kris Labang from On 3 purchased a handful of Anime books and Elizabeth Uehara from BeautiGoddess got a lil’ something for everyone in her family!
Talk about giving back… I don’t say it enough, but I’m so proud to be a part of this phenomenal wedding industry. Thank you to all who supported us in so many ways!
